Molding the clay and avoiding the crap

Today we begin the tedious and difficult task of taking a block of clay – that is, our Draft A – and beginning to mold it in to shape, to clarify that arc, and identify the places where power and heart and angst and surprise and passion and horror and love…where all those things can exist and explode – within a one-act play.

I may have just set the bar a bit high.

But that’s really what it is.

As someone said to me, and I paraphrase, “I have great respect for your work, so I don’t expect this will be complete crap.”

Well – there’s encouragement.
